  • The Silver City Museum is looking for Volunteers!
    The museum is super busy and is looking for some volunteers to help with their busy schedule. Bonus! Silver City Food Co-op members may receive a discount at the Food Co-op by volunteering at the Museum! Call 575-538-5921.
  • Kiwanis Club of Silver City
    12 – 1 p.m. Red Barn Restaurant. Please join us each Tuesday noon at the Red Barn for an open Kiwanis meeting featuring special guest presenters and often youth in our community. Attend on the first Tuesday of the month and you will be able to be a part of the Kiwanis special “Student of the Month recognition” where ten schools bring one, special student each to recognize. (This happens the first Tuesday of each month during the school year.) 575-538-3396.
  • The Silver City Rotary Club Luncheon
    Noon.  Sunset Room on the second floor of WNMU’s McDonald Student Memorial Building. A speaker will talk about issues of community interest. Guests are welcome. $10 for a hot lunch with dessert and coffee.
  • Meditation for Everyone!
    5:30-6:15 p.m. Billy Casper Wellness Center, 300 E. 16th St. New series of five classes, entitled “What is Your Life’s Purpose” starts tonight and continues Tuesday evenings. 20-25 minute meditation followed by 20-25 minutes of commentary. Free. Jeff Goin at 313-4087.
  • Silver City/Grant County TEA Party Patriots Meeting
    6 p.m. Red Barn restaurant, 708 Silver Heights Blvd. Doors open at 5 p.m. for those wishing a meal. Topic will be “The Border Crisis, Part 1” featuring several DVD videos about the border situation. Public is invited to attend.
  • Creative Writing Group
    6 – 8 p.m. Kennedy Puentes Room, Miller Library, WNMU, 1000 W. College Ave.  Beginning Sept. 2; first and third Tuesdays every month. Free. Just show up with 10 copies of your poetry, short stories, or memoir. Contact: JJ Wilson: wilsonj11@wnmu.edu.

    9-11 a.m. The Grant County Court Watch group will host a free information session and training for people interested in volunteering for the Domestic Violence Court Watch Program. Participants will learn about the domestic violence court process, the benefits of a court watch program, and how to do a court watch. Preregistration required, space limited.
